APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED Internship Opportunity – Summer 2012: The Tennessee Golf Foundation in cooperation with Metro Davidson Country Parks is offering a turf and golf course maintenance internship at The VinnyLinks in Shelby Park for the summer of 2012. The Internship is available from mid-May to mid-August and applications are being accepted immediately. The VinnyLinks course a 33-acre, nine-hole course and practice range that is the home of The First Tee of Nashville where over 500 children are served each year with daily programming. It is located across the interstate from LP Field in Nashville, Tn, inside the 1200-acre Shelby Park, bordering along the Cumberland River. Internship Requirements: Applicants should have an interest in golf and turfgrass management, and preferably some experience working on a golf course or playing the game. Individuals should possess a high level of dedication, be detail oriented, enthusiastic and have the ability to execute and follow a detailed plan using turf equipment that you will be trained to operate. The Intern will be supervised by a golf course superintendent and the Executive Director of The First Tee of Nashville but should be able to work unsupervised to efficiently maintain The VinnyLinks property. The Intern will be the primary person maintaining the golf course for the summer. The Intern should have reliable transportation and will ask to complete a background check. Compensation: $8.50 to $10 per hour based on 40 hours per week. The Internship would also qualify for community service credits and possibly college course credit.
