Betty Probasco

         

%    Won the Women’s Tennessee State Amateur eight times (1954, 1955, 1964, 1965, 1973, 1980, 1981 & 1986)

%    Won the Kentucky State Amateur four times (1949, 1951, 1952, 1953)

%    She was the NCAA champion in 1950

%    She won the Women’s Southern Amateur and was a semi-finalist in the Women’s USGA Amateur in 1955

%    She was selected to the Curtis Cup in 1956 and in 1982 was the captain

%    Betty was inducted as a charter member of the Tennessee Golf Hall of Fame in 1990


Betty’s championships span thirty-nine years.  She has won titles in five different decades. Senior golf began in 1980 for Mrs. Probasco, who won the Chattanooga City Amateur eleven times.  Her senior credits include the 1980 State Women’s Senior Amateur, 1981 North & South Women’s Senior Amateur, 1981 Palmetto Dunes Senior Amateur, and 1991 Women’s Western Senior Amateur. She was third in the US Women’s Senior Amateur in 1982. She has served as president of the Women’s Tennessee Golf Association, the Women’s Southern Golf Association and served on the USGA’s Women’s Committee for ten years.
