Tennessee PGA Invited Families to Enjoy the Game of Golf Together
FRANKLIN, TN – The Tennessee PGA (TPGA) invited families to the Little Course at Golf House Tennessee with a big kick-off Family Golf Day event on Sunday, August 7th. It was a great turnout as Golf House Tennessee hosted 120 family members for its first ever Family Golf Day. Many of the families that attended the event heard about it on the Old Spice Wake Up Zone morning show on 104.5 ZONE Sports Radio Nashville when they did a live radio remote from Golf House Tennessee. Families of all ages and ability levels participated in golf lessons and instruction from PGA Professionals Nancy Quarcelino, PGA and Chuck Taylor, PGA, junior clinics and instruction led by Little Course Director of Golf and PGA Professional Scott Flynn, PGA, Get Golf Ready clinics led by PGA Apprentice Gaylon Cude, and a closest to the hole competition led by PGA Apprentice Cliff O’Meara. Families also participated in a three-hole SeeMore putting contest presented by AC Agee of SeeMore Putter Company. Prizes were provided for participating families including hats & bracelets from Brad Beck of Puma/Cobra Golf, SeeMore Putter Lesson & Fitting from John Higgins of SeeMore Putter Company, golf tees, towels, and spikes from Joe Shea of Softspikes/BLACKWIDOW grips/Pride Golf Tee, and Passkey Golf Discount Books & PGA Championship Practice Round Tickets courtesy of the Tennessee PGA. PEPSI drinks and hats, as well as Little Caesars pizza was provided for families that participated in all the activities. Pepsi drinks stations with Aquafina water, Gatorade, and Pepsi soft drinks were provided at various drink cooler stations placed around the Little Course. It was great to see so many kids enjoying the game of golf with their parents in the great weather with their Pepsi hats on and drinks in their hands. It is a true testament that golf is a game to be enjoyed by the whole family. The Junior Committee of the TPGA led by PGA Professional Jeff Craig, PGA of Windstone Golf Club developed the concept of Family Golf Day on Sunday afternoons in August. The concept of Family Golf Day is golf facilities block off time on Sunday afternoons for families to come out and play together or get an introduction to the game of golf. The TPGA believes that golf is a sport that the entire family can enjoy and participate in for many years. The Little Course is the first facility to test the concept of Family Golf Day and its success, with hopes that the concept will spread to facilities throughout the state of Tennessee in the future.
