Johan Kok - 2010 Champion

(Hermitage, TN) The 3rd Annual Assistant Match Play Championship concluded at Hermitage Golf Course.  After four months of matches the two finalists from each region meet at Hermitage for a shot at becoming the Assistant Match Play Champion.  From the East region Matt Brock from Chattanooga Country Club and Keith Burdette from Bear Trace at Harrison Bay meet in the semi-final match.  Brock jumped out to an early lead birding two of the first three holes to move to 2 up.  Burdette battled back and was able to close Brock out on the 16th hole winning 3 & 2. In the West region Chase Brannon defending champion from Richland Country Club took on Johan Kok from Temple Hills Country Club.  Kok started off strong making a few birdies on the opening holes and then carding an eagle on hole eight to take a 2 hole lead.  Kok was able to maintain his lead and also finished Brannon off on the 16th hole winning 3 & 2.

The finals and consolation matches took place immediately after the semi-final matches.  In the final Kok once again got off to a great start going 4 up after the front nine.  Burdette battled back but had too much ground to make up.  The match concluded on the 17th green giving Kok a 2 & 1 victory.  In the consolation match Brock was able to edge out Brannon on the 17th hole with a 2 & 1 victory as well.

Special thanks to Jim Vernon and Steve Murphy from Hermitage Golf Course for hosting this great event.  Also thank you to the 32 Assistants who signed up this year making this the largest Assistants Match Play to date.
