TGA Junior Player of the Year Rankings Policies:

The TGA Junior Player of the Year Rankings, presented by the Tennessee Golf Association, reflect the abilities of Tennessee juniors participating in a wide array of events. The rankings favor local events to reduce economic favoritism, and national championships to recognize top prominence.  Rankings will be kept for a calendar year.

Ruth Eller Cup - this award will be presented to the TN female junior golfer who ranks first at the end of each tournament season.

Harold Eller Cup - this award  will be presented to the TN male junior golfer who ranks first at the end of each tournament season.

The cups will be housed at Golf House Tennessee with the winners’ names engraved on the appropriate trophy and Players of the Year will be presented with a permanent award.

The rankings are updated on the first of each month and reflect play over the current year. For an event to be considered for the rankings, it must meet the following guidelines:

1. Local junior specific 36 hole+ events conducted in Tennessee that abide by USGA Rules of Golf and have a minimum of 20 boys or 8 girls playing from the back set of tees for the event. Half of the field will be ranked (maximum of 20 players).  If the number of holes played has to be cut due to inclement weather, the committee will determine if the rankings will apply.

2. National events that are invitationals or  players earn their way through local qualifying.  Examples: AJGA Invitationals, USGA championships, the PGA Junior Championship, and other such invitationals and national championships.

3. TGA Amateur and Open events will be considered for rankings.

4. USGA Amateur events will be considered for ranking as long as the junior earned his/her way into the tournament via qualifying or exemption.

5. Misc. Events that are conducted in TN will be considered on a year to year basis.  Examples: Southern Junior, Women’s Southern, PGA Junior Series, and other such regional and national championships.
