Each year, the top Tennessee and Georgia Assistant PGA Golf Professionals compete in a Ryder Cup style tournament.  Each Section tallies standings throughout the season to place players on their teams.  This year the Tennessee team consists of: Nick Bailes, Reise Kelly, Jeff Page, Johan Kok, Chase Brannon, Matt Brock, Bruce Bowen, Jake Reeves, Scott Masters, Keith Burdette, Glenn Hudson, and Captain Brian Wood. Proceeds from the Assistants’ Cup will be donated this year to a worthy charity of the host sections choice.

On day one the Tennessee PGA Assistants’ team jumped out to an early lead after the Four-Ball matches leading 4 to 2, and carried the momentum into the afternoon Foursome matches (alternate shot). The Tennessee PGA again won four of the six Foursome matches and leads 8 to 4 after day one. On day two the Tennessee team kept the ball rolling and earned themselves 7.5 points to clinch the first victory for Tennessee in four years. Bruce Bowen and Captain Brian Wood we on top of their game during this Ryder Cup style tournament. They were the only players to win all of their matches and each won three points for the Tennessee Team.

Final score Tennessee 15.5 to 8.5 for Georgia

Congratulations to all of the players from both teams who made it to this fun rivalry! We look forward to next year when Georgia will be hosting the event.
