DIXON SHOOTS AGE AND WINS THE TRUE TEMPER
TENNESSEE PGA SENIOR SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP
(Brentwood, TN) Gene Dixon of Murfreesboro shot his age today, 66! After 3 putting hole #2 for a bogey, he pulled off 7 birdies to finish the round to shoot –6 under par for round 2. His total for the tournament was –3 under giving him a 3 shot win over Gary Robinson of Hermitage (-2 under today) and Sam Adams of Mountain City who both finished at even. George Newbeck of Maryville and Wallace Young of Puryear each shot +1 over to finish tied for 4th place.
Tom Kammann of Baneberry and Bobby Nichols of Algood also had rounds under par today.
For the Senior Club Professional Championship participants, Gary Robinson and Sam Adams tied for 1st place, George Newbeck received the third spot and Carl Lohren of Dandridge and Mark Houser of Kingsport had a playoff to determine the last qualifier for the National Senior CPC which will be held later this year in Florida. Carl Lohren won the playoff and received the final qualifying spot.
