Datrek Miller International TPGA Pro-Junior Champs:
Indian Hills Golf Club & Old Hickory Country Club
(Springfield, TN) Host PGA Professional Rafe Corder filled in for Old Hickory Country Club as the professional for their girls team in the 2006 Datrek Miller International Tennessee PGA Pro Junior Championship. He picked a good team to sub for as his team of Lacey Oeser, Katie Pursell and Kaci Reese helped him get around the course at –13 under par in the Scramble Division. Their score of 59 was tied with the team from Ravenwood Golf Club consisting of PGA Professional Daryl Edens and juniors Evin Edens, Chris Farrar and Alex Cox, but the Old Hickory Country Club team won the scorecard playoff with a 29 on the back nine holes. In third place at –12 under par was PGA Professionial Mike Malarkey with juniors Taylor Hensley, Jonathan Randolph and Eli Taylor.
In the Best Ball division, PGA Professional Charles Travis from Indian Hills Golf Club brought his juniors Lexus Keonihn, Jason Millard and Matt Stephens and they shot a 57, -15 under par. Jason Millard shot 65 with his own ball. Second place was Brentwood Country Club and PGA Professional Matt O’Dell with his juniors Brad Hollinger, Reed McNamara and Clay Mitchell. Richland Country Club brought home third place at –8 under par. Their team consisted of PGA Professional Shane Meredith and juniors Taylor Deming, Paul Meehan and Bobby Short.
In the Low Professional Division, PGA Professionals Richard Rebne (Ringgold, GA) and Joey Hickman (Old Hickory) shot –4 under par to tie for first. Matt O’Dell (Brentwood) was –3 under par to take home third place. Eddie Hayes (Springfield) finished in fourth place at –2 under par.
Cherokee Valley Golf Club won a scholarship to reward a junior a chance to attend the Tennessee PGA Junior Golf Academy. The weeklong stay at Golf House Tennessee for the Academy was randomly awarded and was possible thanks to the sponsors of this year’s event. We would like to thank Datrek Miller International, Regions Bank, Cutter and Buck, and Pukka.
