CONSISTENT PLAY REWARDS JENNINGS WITH TITLE
(Rockvale) With consistent play and steadily improving his scores over each day, Jordan Jennings (Jefferson City) was able to capture the 2009 Tennessee Boy's Junior Amateur Championship held at Champions Run Golf Course in Rockvale, TN. Jennings was able to control his game on yet another windy day, as he fired a 2 under par round of 70 to finish the championship at a total of 2 under par 214. Jennings was able to catch the leaders on the back nine when he closed with an inward nine of 33. Over the three days Jennings only made 6 bogeys and one double bogey that were offset by 10 birdies proving that consistent play pays off.
Jennings was not the only one who was able to move up with solid play. Tyler Smith (Brentwood) bookend his tournament with his second under par round, firing a 1 under par 71 to finish at level par 216. Austin Kramer (Knoxville) crept into third place with a round of even par 72 to finish with a total of 2 over par 218. While Jennings, Smith, and Kramer moved up the leaderboard, yesterday's leaders slid slowly back to the pack. The 36-hole leader, Marshall Talkington (Jackson) backed up with a score of 79 leaving him in a tie for fourth at 3 over par 219 with Lexus Keoninh (Murfreesboro), who shot a score of 76, and Korey Smith (Murfreesboro), who fired a round of 75.
Jennings win gains him an exemption into this year's Tennessee State Amateur, next year's TGA Tennessee Boy's Junior Amateur, TGA State Open Championship, and TGA Match Play Championship along with 3 AJGA Tournament Exemptions.
