FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Paul and Wes Korth (Cookeville) claim 2nd title in four years at the

29th ANNUAL WYNDHAM TPGA FATHER-SON CHAMPIONSHIP

(Crossville, TN)  The 29th Annual Wyndham TPGA Father-Son Championship concluded Sunday with familiar faces a top the leader board.  The 2005 Champions Paul and Wes Korth (Cookeville) were all smiles as they captured the title for the second time in four years.

Their two-day point total was 16 points better than any other team in the 185 man field, however, the shootout can change things quickly.  The Rowell’s (Tommy and Tommy II) from Newport represented the Plateau Division for the shootout while the Korth’s represented the Cumberland Division.  The Korth’s were clicking on all cylinders as they both birdied the first hole of the 3 hole shootout held a Stonehenge Golf Course.  The Korth’s 15 points were good enough to hold off a late charge by the Rowell’s who finished with 12 points.

In all 185 players competed in the Championship which has been conducted by the Tennessee PGA for the past 29 years.  Proudly sponsored by Wyndham Vacation Ownership this event has become a “Tennessee Family Tradition” for many fathers and sons.  Two courses (Heatherhurst Golf Club and Stonehenge Golf Course) owned by the Fairfield Glade Property Owners Association hosted the Championship.  Teams compete in a Stableford point system whereby awarding points for their scores in relation to par.

At Saturday night’s cookout the finals of the Long drive contest were held with a sudden death tiebreaker needed to determine the winner of the Wyndham Division.  Pat Burk (Crossville) had no trouble exhausting the grid as he posted a final drive of 350 yards to win.  13 year old Scott Hickman won the Red Tee (Glade Division) with a yardage of 238 yards.  Ted Chapman won the White Tee (Fairfield Division) with a yardage of 282 yards.

Next June, the Tennessee PGA and Wyndham Vacation Ownership will celebrate 30 years of a “Golfing Tradition”.  For complete results, go to www.tngolf.org
