(Clarksville) Kendall Martindale (Jefferson City) swept the field this week at the 45th Tennessee Girls Junior Amateur Championship. Martindale secured the lead after round one and did not let up. Securing medalist honors for rounds one and two, 71 and 74, Martindale sealed the deal today with a final round score of 72 giving her a 4 over par 217 total for the championship. Kendall's win today secures two American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) exemptions, as well as a spot on the covetted Ruth Eller Cup Team.
Second place honors went to Taylor Manning of Brentwood. Manning posted a score of even par 71 today and finished 7 over par for the tournament (72-77-71--220). Ashley Haggard (Savannah) finished third and Ooltewah's Megan Murphy, who posted the lowest round of the championship today at 1 under par 70, finished fourth.
In the 10-14 year old, nine-hole division, Katya Hoffman (Cookeville) took home first place honors with a total of 118 (38-40-40). In second place, winning the scorecard playoff, was Meridith Hawkins from Powell (42-38-40--120) and in third was Lacie York of Kingsport (39-40-41--120).
