For Immediate Release:

The 2009 Tennessee PGA Pro-Junior Championship presented by Forefront Golf was held at Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club located in Hendersonville, TN.  Twenty-two teams, each one comprised of 3 junior players and one PGA professional, came from as far away as Memphis and Knoxville to compete in both the Scramble Division and the Best Ball Division.

The day started off with a skills challenge for all junior players that include a bunker shot, a pitch shot and a putting contest.  Players were awarded different point amounts at each station based on how well they completed each skill.  Congratulations to Joel Barnett from Ross Creek Landing for winning the skills contest with a grand total of 18 points.  Coming in second place with a score of 15 points was Tanner Taddeo from Johnny Warren Golf Academy and rounding out the top 3 with a total of 14 points was Carson Jacobs from Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club.

After lunch, the tournament kicked off with a shotgun start.  Senior Professional James Paschal from Country Hills Golf Course tied Reise Kelly Assistant Professional at Old Hickory Country Club for tournament low 70 to win the low professional prize.  Paschal also led his team to a victory in the Best Ball Division with an -11 under par 61 to win by three shots over the team from Holston Hills Country Club.  In the Scramble Division, Daryl Eden’s team from McCabe Golf Course finished at 11-under-par for a 1 stroke victory over Windyke Country Club and the Governor’s Club.

Special thanks go to tournament sponsors Dan Hosch of Springfield, TN based Forefront Golf, Brad Beck of Pukka Headware, and Matt Feauto of Ashworth.  Thanks also to Chris Sivier and Bluegrass Yacht & Country Club for hosting the tournament
