Monday August 18,

(Franklin, TN)  The 2008 Tennessee Professional Championship got underway today at Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, TN.  Forty-five Tennessee PGA Professionals are battling in the two day stroke play event for just three spots in the Professional National Championship to be held at Twin Warriors Golf Club and Santa Ana Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, NM next June.

The first round was played under pleasant conditions on the 6994 yard Ironwood Course.  Henrick Simonson of The Honors Course in Chattanooga, TN shot a 69 to hold the overnight lead by 1 shot over Audie Johnson.  Overall play was extremely consistent, as evidenced by the 19 other players poised within 5 shots of the lead.  The qualifying spots are still anybody’s for the taking.

Day two promises to be an exciting one with so much at stake and so many players bunched atop the leader board.  Follow the leaders LIVE online at www.TNGolf.org beginning at 9:45 AM on Tuesday.
