How The Wally Came to Be:
The Wally was started in honor of Jim Walling who was a long-time member of Old Hickory CC. Mr. Walling had many friends and golf acquaintances, and he actively assisted the junior golf programs at Old Hickory CC both financially and physically. He passed away in an automobile accident in 1996 and a few of his closest friends decided to honor his memory with a golf tournament for juniors across Tennessee. They dreamed of a "Masters" type experience for the kids and that has now come to fruition.
The field for this event has become so strong, The Wally is now included in the AJGA Performance Based Entry (PBE) system. Please see www.ajga.org for more information on Performance Based Entry. The AJGA will awarded the Male and Female Champions one exemption.
The Wally is an invitation only event. Old Hickory CC will use the rankings on the National Junior Golf Scoreboard to determine the invitations.
The Champion in the Girls Division will automatically be named to The Ruth Eller Cup Team.
