Martindale Takes the 'Cake

69th Tennessee Women’s State Amateur Championship Finals

(Memphis, TN)  Kendall Martindale of Jefferson City, takes home the coveted title,69th Tennessee Women's State Amateur Champion. Going nail-biting match for match with Chattanooga’s Brooke Pancake (University of Alabama), Martindale took home the win on hole 16, finishing 3 up.  “Quite the entertainment”, said one member of Memphis Country Club of today’s championship match.  Martindale and Pancake put on an engaging show of competitive amateur golf, keeping everyone’s attention and wondering who would ultimately prevail as the champion.  Martindale held no sympathy against any opponent during her five days of competition, posting consecutive marks in the win column for the entire week. She takes home this championship win after attempts that were just out of reach over the last two years: 2008 Championship Runner-Up, 2007 Championship Semi-finalist. Congratulations to Kendall Martindale, one girl to keep your eyes on as she continues to make a notable name for herself in women’s amateur golf.

Jillian Brodd (Ole Miss) of Knoxville, was also named victor in today’s consolation championship finals. After reaching hole 16, Brodd took the title 4 & 2 against Karen Williams of Bean Station. Brodd held the reins for most of the match with Williams claiming matches just in time to stay with her competition.  Congratulations to Jillian Brodd who will continue her outstanding golfing career at Ole Miss as a junior this fall.
